Typesetter Des (Alan Scarfe) had no prospects and a girlfriend looking to get pregnant and stop working. Waitress Laurie (Lynn Stewart) had to support an infant as well as the pretensions of her wannabe playwright husband Colin (Philip Brown). Their chance meeting leads to Des attending a rent party thrown by Laurie and Colin-and simmering frustrations finally boiling over.
